FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What sources are the hadiths from?
Uswah draws from the major authenticated hadith collections: Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Sunan Abu Dawud, Sunan Ibn Majah, and others. Only hadiths graded Sahih (authentic) or Hasan (good) are shown. Every narration displays its collection name, hadith number, and grading.
How does the AI 'Ask' feature work?
When you type a question, the app searches across 50,000+ authenticated hadiths using semantic search (AI-powered). It finds the most relevant narrations, then generates a scholarly summary with full hadith citations. The AI is strictly grounded in the authenticated corpus — it never fabricates or extrapolates. If no relevant hadith is found, it tells you so and recommends consulting a qualified scholar.
Is this app claiming to speak for the Prophet ﷺ?
Absolutely not. Uswah is a search and learning tool over authenticated hadith collections. The 'Ask' feature retrieves and presents what the authenticated Sunnah says about a topic — it does not role-play, impersonate, or claim to speak on behalf of the Prophet ﷺ. Every response is sourced and cited.
Does the app collect my questions?
No. Your question text is sent to AI providers (Google Gemini and OpenAI) to generate a response and search embedding, but it is not stored on our servers. We only record the length of your question for analytics — never the content. No personal identifiers are attached. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Does the app work offline?
Core content (Seerah events, Shama'il narrations, companion profiles, daily sunnah) is cached locally after first load and works offline. The AI-powered 'Ask' feature and fresh content updates require an internet connection.
How do I switch to Arabic?
Open the Settings screen (gear icon) and tap the language switcher. The entire app adapts instantly — text, layout direction (RTL), fonts, and database content all switch to Arabic. No restart needed.
Is the app really free?
Yes. Uswah is completely free with no paywalls, no locked content, no ads, and no data selling. All features are available to everyone. Built by Al-Maqdisi Productions with the sole purpose of serving the Muslim community.
How were the Shama'il narrations selected?
All 400 narrations come directly from Imam al-Tirmidhi's Ash-Shama'il al-Muhammadiyyah — the classical hadith collection dedicated to describing the Prophet's ﷺ appearance, character, and daily habits. They are organized into 12 categories: Appearance, Clothing, Eating, Drinking, Walking, Speaking, Laughing, Character, Manners, Worship, Possessions, and Sleeping.
